Minute Meditations
Spiritual Surgery

The astounding variety of moral imperfections continually reminds me of how our selfish natures constantly try to assume control of our hearts and minds.
We must learn how to handle the confrontation with the truth about ourselves and then invite God in for some spiritual surgery.

This picture brought some interesting thoughts to mind. At first it seemed to say “Jesus is with the surgeons,” as if to endorse modern medicine. Then I thought that Jesus must preform ‘spiritual surgery’ on all of us in one way or another. I like the second thought better, but it seemed a bit odd that he would need other people, the doctors and surgeons int his picture, to do it. Shouldn’t Jesus be able to do this by himself or is this just an illustration of how Jesus works through us to help heal others?
